I would agree with not putting one on. From what I've read stuff still gets under the cover and is hard to clean. That and I don't like adding holes to exterior surfaces. I just get on the truck bed railsand sweep off the slide.

I bought a telescoping extension ladder and keep it in the ext compartment. Comes in handy for many other things than just cleaning off the slide.

Anyone interested in purchasing a P2 brake controller? I might have one for sale soon. My buddy just bought a new Tundra Limited and it has an integrated brake control. He was looking to give me his P3 and I'd give him what ever money I made off mine. Thought I'd ask here first before posting in the classified section.

After a few attempts to figure out what to do, we FINALLY found a great solution to the clothes cubby on either side of the queen bed. Purchased them at Walmart for $20/each. They are held together by small tabs in each corner. You'll have to disassemble each drawer, pull the plastic bin, wiggle the frame into the cubby, snap it back down on top of the previous one, and replace the plastic bin. Very easy to do. Lots of space for clothes and extras.

Cool idea. Plus you still have room above it.

Potential new Apex owner/Apex 288BH info
Ok... So a couple more things that I did to the camper today. I added this little key holder just inside the door. I got tired of always trying to find my keys (this probably won't help that much lol). I used a Command Strip.
I used Command Strips to attach this solar LED light https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QL2C20C . I used it last weekend and it did a very nice job. I have a second set of command strips on the tongue of the Apex... I let it charge for a few hours each day, put it underneath before dark, and it works very well.

Great to hear. It's such a nice (and cheap) add-on.

Hello all. I know a few (myself included) have asked about being able to run the TV sound through the apex speakers. I havent tried it yet, but i was told that all you have to do is go into the menu on your TV and change the sound to external. Not sure why i never thought of that.
Hope everyone is having a great 2016 camping season. We have two trips remaining before winterizing.

I was just digging through this thread on Friday... we changed out the shower rod with the extendable one shown in post #349. Gives you an extra 9" or so of elbow room. What an awesome mod. We also hung a shower caddie on the wall above the toilet. No more knocking over shampoo bottles every time i lift my arm. Will be installing a toilet paper holder and a toothbrush holder next weekend. I'll have to post some pics to the thread.
We decided to give seasonal camping a try this year. Found a nice place between State College and Harrisburg called Buttonwood Campground. Just finished our first weekend and loved it. Woke up this morning, cooked breakfast, washed up, turned off the water, and drove off.

I'm first camp of the year
Just came back from our first trip of the year. Met the inlaws in the middle and camped in Gettysburg (Gettysburg Campground). If you have any appreciation for history, it is a must do trip. We are now ready to make some mods on our 2016 after a year of camping. Definitely want to do the shower curtain mod above and also convert the closet next to the fridge into shelves for the kids clothes. We will add additional towel hooks in the bathroom and a shelf above the toilet.
It was a real nice first weekend

We've done Gettysburg, but never camped there. Probably should since we're not too far away.
After the first full weekend with the new shower curtain/shower caddy, i can honestly say it's the best mod we've done yet. Sooo much room.
I'll be hooking up our direcTv this weekend... hope there's enough open space to find the satellites.
Anyone else have DirecTV in their 288? I hooked it up last year... but there's really not enough space to put the receiver... trying to figure something out.

Hello everyone. Love this forum and post lots of great ideas. Upgrading to this model from a solaire 147x. Anyone having any major issues after all the years of owing their 288? I can't find anything negative about this brand and model.

Ive not had a single issue since having the window reset. Ive also not heard of any issues that aren't standard for the industry (poor radio reception, loose fitting here and there, etc...). I would certainly purchase again. However, to do again, I'd get the 300. I was worried about towing... but the Apex pulls perfectly.

We just picked up our 2018 1/2 and love the unit. The slight changes are awesome. Undermount sink white led in the speakers different entertainment center...but we only found one heat duct next to the fridge isn't there supposed one under the bed? Where are your cabinet mounted ducts?

We have 3 heat ducts.... 1 below the fridge, 1 in the shoe storage area, and 1 at the foot of the bed. In your pic #3, it looks like that one is missing.
