Removing television from build. Oops?
When we ordered our Chaparral 390QSMB a while back, we chose to decline the 40" television option. It was around $719, and we figured we can just use one we already have, or even buy a new one for less than half that.
However, someone elsewhere mentioned that when you order the TV from the factory, that also includes the wiring, antenna, and booster. By declining the TV, you also don't get those things. Can anyone give some insight on this? Do I need to have the TV added before it's too late?

I wouldn't think that would be right. I would call the dealer and ask him. I sure hope it works out for you.

Call the manufacturer first thing Monday. Don't rely on the word of a salesman.

I don't think that's the case either. Also, the TV is subject to discount by the dealer, often times it's throw in when the dealer's by several. Regardless, the cost of the TV door you at the end of the day is more like $400 and removing it shouldn't remove anything else.

When I talked to the dealer about ordering a new Flagstaff he suggested that I not order the TV and buy one local (price) The new TT comes wired with antenna and plugs. Check with the MFG to be sure but I think you are fine not taking the TV.

Thanks all for the advice. I will call them this week to verify, but I would certainly hope that it should still be tv-ready. I already have a 42" tv that I can use (unfortunately my 55" won't fit) so it seems silly to pay such a hefty price, even at a dealer discounted price. I can get a 40" smart tv for $350 these days...

We placed the order on April 8. Does anyone know how long it takes them to actually start building it?

Can't tell you when it will go to production, but once it hits the production line, it's about a day to two, to build. Last time we were there, they made Chappy's and Brookstones on the same line (but all Chappy's, then a run of Brookstones, then back and forth).
They have to make a certain number per day. So they almost never put in more that 6 hours a day. Great incentives for quick production. Lousy incentive to produce quality work.

I ordered my 360IBL without the bedroom and kitchen TVs because of the same thing. I could get better quality for less or larger size for same price.
The only thing that is missing is the TV mounts on the camper.. the wiring is all there.
I did talk with the factory and request them to include the mounts which they did at no cost. My fear was to drill into the walls in the wrong spot and missing support beams and/or leaving holes because I had to drill again.
I'd highly recommend contacting the factory and request the mounts be installed even if you have to pay for them.

Another consideration, the RV TVs are 12 volt and are more expensive. If you are always going to be on shore power a household TV would work.
When we purchased our Class C, it came with a 12 volt 32" LCD TV. Checking on line, they were pretty expensive comparing a 120v TV, but a bit cheaper than the factory installed. However we got the mount, wiring etc. To us, it was worth having it done as a package--and, I am an avid DIYer. We installed a 19" 12 volt TV in the BR. We managed to find a bargain on the Net, but still not cheap.

Not all RV TV's are 12V. Both of mine are 120V.
Aren't RV TV's built stronger to withstand the constant bouncing?

No, they are just very cheap flat screen TVs.
I wish they had a "Flat Screen Ready" option so you can buy your own TV.
I prefer LG Smart TVs so I can stream MP4 videos to them.
The LG 3D TVs use "Real3D" glasses from the movie theater and so are "recycled" to the house.

Ours ordered a month and a half ago and factory says production of our model started last Friday. I will tour the factory Tuesday and will learn more but was told actual production of unit takes two to three days

I just spoke with someone at Coachmen about not ordering the TV, causing the other things to not be installed. He laughed and said that's not true. Everything will be there except the TV. Yaay!

Good deal. Figured in this day it would, but best to know for sure.
Our 88 Jayco didn't come with an antenna or related items. Everything had to be ordered separately back then. Like in the 60's with cars.

I was also told that they schedule builds for this model every Wednesday. Ours would have been on the schedule last week, but there was an email server problem at the dealership, so the order was sent too late. The good news is he said ours will be on this week's list, and it should be ready in about 4 weeks. So excited!

Be warned that if they do supply the TV mount it may not be suitable for your specific TV.
I recently looked into replacing the main TV in our 5er, but the supplied Toshiba TV had the mounting holes much lower on the TV than a same-sized Samsung, so to install the Samsung I'd have had to move the mount.
I may still do that at some point, since the contrast on the Toshiba is terrible, but the Samsung I'd ordered got sent back because the "Super Fast Quad-Core processor" was way slower than on the cheaper Samsung I have in the bedroom (It took about 2 minutes just to bring up the on-screen display. Extremely infuriating)
BTW, our factory-supplied TV was 120v AC, not an RV-specific 12v model.
(I'm sure we paid way over the odds for a pretty terrible TV)
