RV EYE

Picked up a 2016 Freedom Express 292BHDSLE in February that came with the new RV EYE backup camera. The system worked fine during the PDI and while it was in storage. Took first trip last weekend and system does not have power. All other systems worked as they should. Does anyone have any experience with this to know where it gets its power from?

I talked to the service department at the dealer and as this is new to them they did not have any immediate help, other than to bring it in. Well I don't want to lose the use of the trailer for the summer and this is not critical, so will continue to troubleshoot myself until A) I determine the problem or B) camping season is over I they can work on it in the fall!

Where does this camera wire in at? Check to see if it works with the lights on.Also check to see if it only gets power when Truck is in reverse. All I can think of if you have checked the 12v fuses.

Many B/U cameras only work when the TV is in reverse. Check the fuse block in the TV for the fuse for the B/U lights. Your TV should have a separate fuse for the trailer lights ( B/U, turn, brake. 12V aux) from TV lights.

Check and see if you get power when your running lights are on. Quite often they power the cameras that way. Were the running lights on when you did your PDI and when you were at the storage area?

Other than that, time to start looking for fuses.

Thanks for the responses. The RV Eye is a wireless system that works through and app on a smart phone/tablet. It worked during the PDI with no TV connected. It was on shore power at the time. I will start to check the fuses, however everything else worked on the trailer. There may be an inline fuse somewhere that I need to look for.

RV-Eye Samsung Android problems Fixed

The Fix: Transmitter Version 2 only, won’t work on version 1 (has the version on the back)Press the wifi transmitter reset button three times, the led will flash from red to green light, then it will enter in Android Samsung mode It will show up as RV-Eye_SAMSUNG (Network SSID) in your mobile phone Wifi settings, just connect password if needed 12345678. Works

I have this on my 279RLDSLE as well. When it did/does work, how is the picture quality displayed on your phone? I find mine to be very poor quality and was wondering if this was just the way it worked or if the display should be picture/camera quality. also, the display on my phone is reversed. when viewing the side eye for example, what i see on my phone is left to right instead of right to left.

Picture quality

Yes picture quality isn't great, looks like looking through fish bowl also but probably to get the widest view. And yes mine is also reversed. Not sure if that can be changed.

Thanks. I was leaning towards user error but I feel a little better now.

Rv-eye

I tried connecting with my Samsung Note 8, would not work. Called company. Tried with my old Note 4 and it worked perfectly. They said newer security software in phones prevents it from connecting. Will carry my old tablet to connect
And YES, you can use it driving down the road. Said about 75 feet maximum connection.

Hope this helps. I was surely frustrated.

Your question about the power, mine is wired to a 15 amp fuse labeled Kithen/Entry. I replaced mine to the V2 so it would work on my Android Samsung S8, so I've had it all apart. I contacted RV Eye directly and they gave me a return authorization for the old one. As soon as they received it, they shipped me the V2.

If you look at the photo, there are 3 leads, all with RCA type plug connectors. They are 12v In, 12v Out (not connected), and the third lead which goes to a splitter for the two cameras on my TT.

When I removed it, I found that the connectors were a little sloppy which may be a cause for your loss of power.

It is working now but as others have stated, it's not real clear or with vivid color. It also is set up as a mirror image of what is really there as if you are looking through your rear view mirror of you Tow Vehicle.
