Slide not staying closed

Hello All,

I have a 2011 Freedom Express TT and on a recent trip I noticed an issue with the slide. After 150 miles of towing the lower edge of the slide popped out a few inches. The slide closes fine but both times (to campground and home) the lower edge popped out. The attached picture shows before (closed) superimposed over a shot of what it looks like after the haul. Anyone ever see this or know what may be the cause? Thanks!

It's Normal that the Bottom pops out first as the Top is the last to close when in the Travel position! Try to adjust your "Bell Stop" and the gear racks should come in more "Positive" at the bottom! The "Bell Stop Nuts May just be Loose"? Youroo!!

OK, as soon as I figure out what / where a bell stop nut is I'll check Funny, my slide top always closes 1st and bottom is the last part to pull in, you say the opposite should be true? Thanks!

Maybe I'm not normal, nor is my camper, but on my 310BHDS the top of both of my slides close first then the bottom. I have noticed lately the the living room/dinette slide creeps out at the bottom just a wee bit after traveling. I may have to wait for winter to look into any adjustments. It's been in the high 90's here for about six weeks now. Everything living is wilted including me .

The dinning room slide on our 2500TS does the same,,, bottom out first,,, top in first,,,
I believe that is because the motor in on the bottom !!! I have been thinking about putting a very small amount of pressure on the top as it goes out ??? We used to do that with our old TT with Super Slide,,, we would help it in & out !!! I have however never seen our Dinning room slide move out when traveling !!!

After closer examination and reading the manual it said 'rail tension setting too loose' and to call Happijac Co. Since I have an enclosed underbelly so I'm sure this will not be an easy fix.

All the working parts to that Happijac system should be above your floor. I believe your sofa and kitchen is in that slide on a 290BHS correct? Pull the lower panels on the cabinets and the valance under to sofa.

I've noticed that mine seems to be a balance problem. Let me explain: When either slide starts out the bottom starts first with the top being just a bit behind. At a particular point with each slide the slide room acts as if it passes over some type of high point and the balance shifts so that the top is ahead of the bottom. One will notice that when the room(s) are fully extended the top meets the side of the TT first which stops it then the bottom extends maybe another inch or so. Then the top, bottom, and sides seal off. It's just the opposite going back in. If you think about the weight of the entire slide room this makes sense, at least to me. When each slide room is fully in and the top and bottom have met the side of the TT and if you would pick up the carpet you will notice that the floor of the slide(s) is maybe a 1/2" to 3/4" off of the main floor of the TT. I believe that the weight of the slide causes the bottom of the slide(s) floor to shift downward and meets the top of the main floor of the TT thus causing the slide to shift out at the bottom that magical inch or so. I will have to look at the bottom of my slides to see if my adjustments are visible or are enclosed. Just this old farts two cents worth.
