Done with this thread. Too many opinions on the subject causing confusion. Best advice to the OP is to get information from a reputable propane dealer or use the same material for the new PROPANE line that the RV manufacturer used.

Once again BLACK PIPE for NATURAL GAS, NOT necessary for PROPANE.

I'm a retired State certified Gen contractor......Use black iron pipe, not galvanized. The galvanization is also on the interior of the pipe, and flakes of INSIDE the pipe, and can travel to regulators, valves, other orifices. Galv. is NOT recommended for natural, or propane gas. I would also recommend an additional shut off at the head of the line, should road damage to the line occur down the road. That way you could isolate just that line and not have to turn entire tank off. Just suggesting.

If your not going to ghange the pipe then at least go to a Lowes or other place and buy a inline LP gas filter.

I've worked for a Gas Company for 27 years and what you did is fine and would pass inspection. The flaking of galvanized pipe was a problem many years ago but not how galvanized pipe is made now. So bottom line is your fine and less chance of rusting .

Ya I agree with the other gentlemen...there's a reason why black pipe is approved for gas piping and not galvanized. Safety should always be your first priority, if not for yourself, for your family and other people around you. Same as people driving with propane on especially when filling up at gas stations.
Sen a few videos of RV's catching fire because of that.

I hijacked this thread with my post #41 and I referenced a personal situation, which I regret doing. Some of my fellow FROGS offered thoughts and prayers and now that the thread topic seems to have run its course, I thought I should give an update. The surgeon got all the tumor and found out this am it is benign and the many stitches have been removed. She and my other daughter are now driving back from Boston and she doesn't need to go back for 2 months. The tumor was closer to the optic nerve than scans showed, so part of the eye socket needed to be removed and then reattached, so the surgeon was very glad the surgery was done now. They were going to treat with radiation here in Syracuse. Thank God she got a second opinion. This daughter makes her living as creative director for a company and prior to going corporate was a gifted enough artist to earn a decent living from paintings and book illustration so vision is key for her.
