Tire/Wheel question

Hi guys,



Just got a 360IBL and want to replace the tires.


I have already decided on the Sailuns, but the guy at the tire shop initially warned me that since they are "G" rated, "they crack wheels" so I should make sure my wheels can handle them.
After I told him that my trailer is rated for "F" tires, he said that it would be OK, but I wanted to run it pass some of you folks with much more experience in this than I have.


I see no markings on my current stock wheels (I wish ForestRiver would publish more info on such things). Would it be fine to run the "G" tires without replacing the rims?

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. Look on the inside of the rim and see if it has a max pressure rating if not call the Mfg of the rim and get the info.

I believe that the pressure for the G should be 110psi to get full range use out the tire, but you could always pump them to 95psi like the F's with no issue if that's what your rims are rated for. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying G's though.

i don't believe the rims are rated for load range (G or F). they are rated for the inflation pressure they can hold. there is probably a max inflation pressure stamped on the rim probably on the inside. or as mentioned get the make / model of the rim and contact the manufacturer. perhaps you can get the tire guy to confirm this for you. do you have a spare that uses the same rim? perhaps you can get it from there.

I put Sailuns on mine. Not to be taken as gospel but I seem to remember a sticker on the rim that said 110#. (on 7,000# axles)

The weight difference between the OEM and the Sailun is jaw-dropping. I ran mine at 95psi. Whether that was right or wrong, I finally had confidence in my tires.

I didn't find anything meaningful stamped on the wheels, but after some searching, it appears that I have LionsHead Jaguar wheels which, for my size/bolt pattern, are rated for max load of 3960 (no psi info is given on their website).


So I guess I'd be OK getting the Sailuns?


Very conflicting information with these products - for my OEM tires (also LionsHead), their website calls for 80psi, while the actual tire says 95psi, lol. Obviously I run them at 95psi, but it makes you wonder how much could you trust any info on their website.

Good move on replacing the oem tires. My 2018 360IBL had 3 blowouts before 9k miles. I threw the 4th and spare away looking new.

My rims are stamped inside 110psi. I believe they are jaguars. In fact I bought two spares from etrailer.

Chaps2018, what tires did you put on yours?


I'm a bit concerned that while my wheels are 6" width, the Sailuns call for 6.5". Some people say they run them on 6" wheels without issues, I just don't want to replace one potential problem with another

My experience started with a nail in an OEM tire. I put on the spare, complete with its basic, yellow rim. I had the affected tire plugged and, with its fancy rim, put back underneath the coach as the spare.

In time, I decided to match the good tire with the good rim, jacked up the coach and took the two rim/tire combos to a nearby tire shop to match the good tire with the good rim. Except the "good" tire had a large bubble on the inside sidewall.

The tire shop (Pueblo Tires in Mission, Tx) offered me another low-quality tire for about $90. I decided that the time had arrived for Sailuns and asked if they would install the tires if I had them shipped there. No problem.

I priced the Sailuns - same size as the OEM tire - Sailun S637 (Trailer) ST235/85R -16 - on the Simple Tire website. I signed up for mobile notifications and got a code for $50 off my order. I called Simple Tire, paid $173.93 each (total $695.72), less $50 for the soon-unsubscribed mobile notices, plus 'FET' and Texas sales tax. Free shipping. Total: $737.58.

Ordered Wednesday morning, delivered FedEx Friday morning to the tire shop.

The local tire shop charged $150 for balancing and installation. The installer was a little reluctant to go to 110# as he had had a rim blow up on him once and injure his finger. I showed him the 110# sticker on the inside of rim but we compromised on 95#.

I can't say that I noticed a huge difference when pulling the coach, but I was no longer looking in my mirrors for shrapnel every time the trailer hit a pothole.

Well worth the peace of mind.

I put GY endurance on since I could not replace all at once. (Ie Didn’t want to use two different load rating tires at the same time)

My next set will be sailun.

Regarding your questions Sailun has an excellent website and their customer service is even better. I’ve had several exchanges with them when I was going through the thought process like you are right now I would encourage you to contact them direct and ask your specific questions.

I don’t recall the rim width issue tho. Please keep us posted. There are several 360IBL owners who frequent the forum.

Thanks guys, this has been really helpful. I think I will pull the trigger on the Sailuns, unless the shop ends up giving me hard time about the rims.


I know "F" load rating will be an overkill in my case, when I weighted on my last trip the rear axles were carrying less than 9.5K lbs, but better more tire than less And with the state of the roads all over the country, I'm just worried about the OEMs' construction being able to hold.



I was also quoted ~$700 for the set, so it sounds like a fair price.



Chaps2018, did you get some deal on the GYs? I also priced the GYs with the same tire place (the tech called them "good-for-a-year", lol) and he said that they'll be well north of $300 PER TIRE

The GY endurance were $210ish each installed. Discount tire is killing me...

We have 12k miles on the Constancy OEM's and I just noticed some deformation and some tread separation the other day. Getting Carlisle radials put on tomorrow. I have to say though that we did not have any issues in those 12k miles so thankful for that. They are a load range E tire so I am putting the same back on. My opinion is that, in general, if you take care of your tires, they will take care of you.

Agree. But I will say that my rig never moves until all tires pressure is verified and I also use a TPMS on every trip.

My rig also weighs 2k lbs less than gvwr. When loaded. I did not verify each wheel weight tho.

That's weird, mine came OEM with Ridgway Sport ST. Maybe they get whatever is the cheapest at the time


The tire shop first offered me the Carlisle, so they will be my backup, if the Sailuns don't work for my wheels. I think they came to about $100 cheaper, too.
