Truck tires

Anyone have any insight to which tire (265/70/18) would be best for towing fifth wheel? Im more interested in weight verses longevity

I don't even want to reply. need more info. what truck? rim size? what trailer? pin or hitch weight? you will need to figure out how much weight you need to carry and from this you can figure out the tire load range required. then you can start looking for tires that meet your specs. also, in your post you mentioned a tire size but it was not an LT tire size? do you need LT tires? will the rims carry the psi the new tires may require?

What is wrong with the OEM tires? I assume you have 'E' rated on your 2500. Each brand should have the same load rating in that size.

Been towing 5th wheels for the last 27 years.
Michelin has always been my choice on the tow vehicle.

You don't say what your 'lesser brand' tires are but it appears they have served you well.

I've always been interested in "cost effective" and "longevity". I used to tow often, long and heavy when I was still racing. My "goto" tire for a long time was Firestone Transforce HT. I have 17 in wheels on my dually (LT245/75/17 E) These tires have a good highway tread and did very well towing a 20,000 lb enclosed 2 car hauler 25,000 miles a year.

I was told the Transforce was being discontinued the last time I bought tires so I switched to Yokohama Geolander A/T-S. These were in the same price range ($150-160) as the Firestone and had better ratings on TireRack. I've only had them since November and have only towed 2 or 3 times, but I like them so far. You'd have to check if they come in your 18' size.

I like my Toyo tires. I've got over 70k miles out of the Toyo A/T II's that I've got on my 2007 F150, will probably have close to 75k on them in April when I replace them with the same thing. I put Toyo HT's on my 2013 F150. Both are rated the same (E maybe?) Both are made in USA, even if they sound Japanese.

Actually you are in the General Travel Trailer & Fifth Wheel Discussion Coachman forum.
That said,I run Michelins on the front and Coopers on the rear of my dually.
They both seem to be wearing well, 17" tires. I'm about 2540 on pin weight.I saved about $300 going this way over the Michelins all the way around.Which ones wear the best will be the next set I buy.
