TV DVD connection

We just took possession of our Catalina 293RKS. Trying to get acquainted with some of the things. We mounted a TV and trying to figure out how to hook up the built in DVD/stereo to the TV. There are built in RCA jacks. A pair and a single on the left side of the where the TV is mounted. The TV is a new JVC. I tried a variety of ways to hook up but never could get the TV to get a signal from the DVD player. It gets the antenna signal but no luck with any of the component settings. Any suggestions?
