That's probably because it is hard to whistle with a heavy tongue.

our 2011 3008 has a very loud whistle from the right side, we believe its coming from the fwd awning frame, the 2012 3008 models have the awning moved back, have not heard anyone complain about the noise with the newer units. as far as towing ,we have noticed an increase of about 1 mpg. our previous tt was a boxed 13ft high 28ft toy hauler loaded with 3 atvs and 2 dirt bikes and gear, same weight as the 3008 loaded, we believe our increase in mpg has more to do with the wind jammer being about 2ft lower and not the " pointy nose"
