V-nose vs traditional
Although I just bought 6 mos ago, a prime time lacrosse, I looked at a coachmen 302fkv that I like.
Can anyone speak on the towing difference between v-nose vs flat front? Curious on difference in sway/ gas or other notable differences.

The one complaint I see on here a few times is finding the right hitch for a V Nose. The tongue has little room for the snap up brackets. As for anyone on here that has owned both and can give an accurate assessment of the differences, gonna be hard to find, as most people don't trade campers that often. There are some that swear their V Nose is better, but they don't have real numbers. It's just the new camper, and anything you spend money on is always better.
Sorry, can't help much, just take what you hear with a grain of salt.

Hey There TT Newbees
We had a traditional TT and went to a Windjammer 3008 last year. I have not noticed any difference in towing or mileage. Most important things are to stay within towing limits of TV and having a good hitch set up. That said , we had no trouble fitting an Equalizer hitch to the 3008 Windjammer. And we love love our Windjammer !

We went from a 30' Edgewater to the 34 1/2' V-Lite and really cannot see any difference. We got about 1 mpg better on a 6000km trip than trips with the old trailer but that could easily have just been the prevailing winds being more in our favor on the long haul trip. They both pull about the same, the only issue with the V-Lite is the ball receiver is on the bottom of the frame vs the top on any other type of trailer and make it a bit of a bear when you have a high TV like our Ram 2500 4x4 to get the hitch to allow the trailer to sit level. The Blue Ox hitch worked great though in our case.

We went from a 22' traditional TT to a 34.5' V-nose, and although we upgraded the TV at the same time we got the new V-nose, there's been absolutely no difference in my towing experience, good, bad, or otherwise. We have the Equalizer WDH and have had no issues with it either.

My impression is that V-nose trailers tend to have heavier tongue weights. Or is it just me?

Depends on the layout, our 30WRLS is much lighter in the nose than our old unit.

Wow, thanks for responses, I would have thought the v would cut through air better. I do have the equalizer now and haven't had any issue towing what I currently have. Thanks for the responses!

I think it whistles more while towing. It pulls great though. Not much different that a flat front. My flat front I traded in was 10 ft shorter so cant say about mpg. The new one gets 10-11 vs 12-13 but the old one weighed 1800 lbs less.

Whistle, sounds annoying  . But thanks! Tongue wt is a little less in 302FKV coachman than 303RKS.

The Windjammer 3008 has a heavier tongue weight since the kitchen is up front but works well with the Equalizer WDH. I don't notice any whistling with my TT.

Ours whistles like crazy even sitting in the yard depending on wind speed and direction. There have been a few threads about the noise and one member actually fixed theirs. If memory serves it is the drip rails and not the spouts which is what I thought it was.

We've never experienced the whistling either, and I frequently drive with the windows down.

The whistling noise isn't too objectionable. I just turn the radio up and it goes away...

Love it YooRoo! It seems like somewhere in the forum I read that the whistling was an issue but a slight redesign beginning with the 2012 models. Those that experience the whistle, what year is your TT?

We had a flat front trailer and upgraded to the Windjammer 3002W. Towing went from a "always on edge" affair to almost worry free. But we also upgraded the hitch from a simple W/D and friction sway control to a Reese Dual Cam when we bought the trailer.
We hear the whistling but only when the windows are down and only when driving near something that reflects the sound back such as tall median walls or when passing under a bridge. Don't hear it otherwise.
The tongue weight is less than our previous 28ft Terry which had a front kitchen. This WJ has a rear kitchen.
We love this trailer. A lot.
