We did it...
We purchased our first travel trailer. My wife and I have been tent campers for a while now, and our 1-year old and 4-year old love it. But, we were getting a little tired of having so much exposure to the elements - especially the brutal heat down here in FL. We went to the RV show in Tampa a couple weeks ago and were looking at pop-up campers, but the canvas seemed to radiate a significant amount of heat, so we went with a small travel trailer instead - the Viking 17BH. It has all of the amenities we want at a weight we can tow. We are looking forward to many years of use!!!

Nice! That first step up from tenting is the best feeling. We had a popup for years, but never would have gone that route in FL. The hardsided trailer should be a lot more comfortable in the hot weather.

Dodge Grand Caravan. Need to get a more appropriate tow vehicle so we can actually take our out of Florida. But, for now that is the setup.

Congrats on your new trailer. You'll enjoy the hard side. Set up and tear down is much easier. Plus, loading and unloading the trailer is easier. For us, we keep most everything we need in the trailer. When we get ready to head out, we load clothes and food and we are ready to scoot.

Awesome. I bought a similar sized tt about a month ago upgrading from a popup. So far its just sat in the snow. Please post how it goes. I am sure we will have similar experiences.

Nice. We've just upgraded our 13ft for an 18 Apex BH. We camped on our boat for years so I guess this was classic footitis. Couldn't have campfires on the boat. This is nice and relaxing.

Congrats!
Take it from a fellow Floridian...you made the right move...especially if you intend to camp in Florida during the warmer (and wetter) weather! And go with lots more tow vehicle than you think you presently might need...you'll grow into it...trust me.
