Well, I messed up... Need some encouragement.

Hello all. Well, we had a great first time out and had safely made our way back home but just as I was turning into the RV storage area I took a too hard right turn and got my brand new Apex into the corner of the building. I feel like an idiot. Damage appears to be cosmetic but I will need some new trim and a new awning. Honestly, the awning took the brunt of the damage. Guys, can this be fixed? I'm feeling pretty low so any encouragement you can offer would be most appreciated. It was such a great family time this weekend. But, you live and learn. I'll be more careful next time. Turn it in to your insurance and have a good shop make the repairs. This will be one of those Homer Simpson "DOH!!" moments.

I also have a new Apex. We moved up from a 23 foot hybrid to this 30 foot trailer. I can tell you, as you already know, there is a learning curve especially with the extra 7 feet behind you.

Keep us updated on the repairs..... Good Luck

Call your insurance. Could happen to anyone. Most probably have been lucky to avoid such an occurrence although they would claim some "super skill". Accidents happen and the guy that criticizes will probably be the guy hitting something next feeling like a big jerk.

I thought it was bad luck when my water heater cover blew off going down the road on my maiden voyage. turned out to be the last thing that happened. The worst is now behind you.

I backed my Rockwood into a T Rail at Storage. Dented the lower part. Goshem rally they replaced the lower part for free!

I just bought a SOB and am so nervous about doing the same thing. I personally would call your insurance and get it fixed. If yu have a hospitable dealer maybe they can get you in before the camping season gets into full swing.

That's what insurance is for, don't beat yourself up about it.

You already have great advice on insurance involvement so I'll just say

IT HAS or CAN HAPPEN TO US ALL!

Do your best not to beat yourself up (anymore) and go step by step,
repair it and look forward to new camping times as a family.

won't mention what I did but you'll get through this. give it to the insurance company. have a good repair shop do the work and you'll never know it happened. and I'll guarantee this won't happen to you again.

Stuff happens! As the others said let the insurance company deal with it, get her fixed then camp on! We have all had moments where things do not go as planned.

Well, it happens to the best of us......

First time out, hadn't even made it to the camp site. New awning arm, couple of decals, new fridge vent..... Insurance covered it all. My dealer did a great job and only had the trailer for about a week.

I saw your user name & thought we were just congratulating this guy on his new trailer a few days ago. So sorry this happened. But there is a bright side. You were back home when it happened. We were 1200 miles from home when it hit the fan for us.

It's for sure an insurance issue. That's what you pay them for.

Like I've said many times, doing this is not a vacation, it's an adventure. You'll get past this. In time you'll look back & laugh about it.

I would certainly agree on the "don't beat yourself up" comments. Even the most experienced drivers make mistakes. I work at a dealership and believe me, it happens to all of us. Call your insurance company, and shop around to find a good reputable shop to do your repairs.
