What brand tires recommended

Just wondering what various opinions were on brand name and quality of tires, before I replace. I know there are a bunch of factors just in general...?

For ST tires I have had good luck with Maxxis 8008. I went up a load range for added peace of mind. Works for me. Good luck, John

I have the Power King Tow Max tires on my fiver and after reading everything, I am more than a little concerned. However, when I go online and look, I do not see anything better anywhere. The Goodyear Marathons have all the same problems.
So is there anything out there that is dependable? This is my 3rd fiver and my 5th TV and I have never had a problem with tires on anything and I am talking about pulling a Montana from Bloomington ILL to Newnan, GA in in two days, then from Newnan to Hendersonville in one day then to Columbia , SC in one day then to Jacksonville in one day then to Summerfield FL in one day. What has happened to the industry? If all these tires are really that bad, Good Sam Roadside Assistance - get ready!!

The only tire I will put on my 5er is Michelin XPS RIB. Yes there expensive, but they are 10 ply steel and made for commercial trailers. Stay away from cross tread tired like those on a truck. I had to replace my last set after 30,000 miles, not because the tread was worn, but they had reached th maximum 10 year life.

I am very surprised you have not received the wrath of the internet come down on you for this question as it is very played out.
I would just look for a major brand maybe a weight size up from the factory (as they also go cheap) and do not worry about where it is made as no tire is US made, they are all made all over the world by all the brands.

Your problem is probably going to be tire size. Do you have 15" tires on your Apex?


Friend of mine has that size and finding 15" LT trailer tires is tough. Lucky for you, you have a light trailer and might be able to find something with adequate capacity. Get at least 20% over your needs if you can, for adequate safety assurance.


The only ST tire I have heard with any regularity of performance is the Maxxis 8008. Not enough that I would pick over an LT, but if ST is your only option...

I'm going to put load range d tires on mine pretty soon and plan on replacing about every 3 years. That's about the best you can do.
