Wipe seal Replacement (bottom) slideout (drivers side - kitchen/ fridge)
COPY OF MAIL TO COACHMAN ,,, your thoughts?
Since NEW we have noticed that there was a light / water intrusion under the drivers side slide out. It was not until this year found out the reason.
The BOTTOM- WIPE SEAL has had flaps cutout (leaving 3 of the 4 sides cut-1 side hanging, with the (4th) one of the cut outs missing entirely. These are all located at the bottom rollers. Perhaps the cut outs were meant to not allow the wipe to not bind on the rollers?
Never the less .... these openings allow light / water / bugs to enter under the slide. There is I presume a solution (had I known about this during the warranty period I would have submitted it as such).
SOOOOOoooooo can I purchase a replacement bottom slide wipe seal? I would hope you would provide it free as good will .... but I'm not holding my breath. I have checked with my dealer and they quote a ridiculous amount of $$ for the part.

This is a known issue with Coachmen and Shasta slideouts. I have a Shasta 5th wheel and the same thing happened on our slideouts. Those notches are not suppose to be there. The rubber seal is not suppose to slide in with the slideout, but just stay to the outside to keep water and bugs out. The seal is getting pulled into the rollers and getting cut and torn. Not sure how old your trailer is as you never indicated year and model, but Shasta and Coachmen are made in the same factory. I have found the warranty and part managers at Shasta are very helpful and friendly when getting warranty service on my 5ver.

Thanks for the heads up.
I have a 2017 Chaparral 30RLS - now coming up to 2 years old (in service).
We shall see what "service" says at Coachman.

Well as it is out of warranty they may not repair it for free. But you can ask if they would provide the parts, you can replacement them yourself, its pretty straight forward swap out. Even if you have to buy the parts, they will sell them to you directly. The warranty/parts managers are different for both lines, but I am sure they will help you get the parts needed.

Wipe seal Replacement (bottom) slideout (drivers side - kitchen/ fridge)
I have exactly the same problem on my 2018 360IBL.
The slide wiper seal is too long or not mounted correctly and it gets run over by the wheel and ripped off.
I’m reluctant to ask for replacement parts as I might just get the same thing. That appears to be a 4 inch slide wiper and the largest I could find is 3.5 inches.
Looking forward to see what you guys find out.

Sorry din't think I needed to explain, this is a copy of the email from Forest River / Tracy - with personal info XXX'ed out, confirming the price for (sorry no freebee), and size and length of R/R seal. Pretty reasonable - especially considering local dealer wanted 10X the $$.

Well its always best to provide some detail, as others who stumble upon a post will get the big picture.
So they are sending you a 1200 ft roll of rubber?
I can't tell from the order how much was the rubber and how much shipping costs?

WOW
must be the warm summer.
Because my submission was truncated to FIT confines of the forums width / does not match with my email width.
For those (that can't figure it out). 1200 foot roll (no they did not send me 1200 feet - they cut my "ask" from it. I ordered 16 feet - sent at least 30 feet (charged me for 16 feet)
2 hours of being hunched over (under) the slide-out / take lots of pictures to get it back together correctly. (see below)

Thanks for the update x medic. Just curious, is the seal 2.5” or 3.5” wide? The description has both numbers.

This should help
3 1/2 total (includes very stiff attachment layer [ie peel off sticky stuff])
2 1/2 inch soft flap seal layer.
FYI cost 53 USA ~ 74$ CDN - under the min for import fees, so I borrowed the wife's Civic and 1 hr each way DONE.
Took awhile to figure out the easiest way to start the self tapping screws. OUCH - couple of whacked fingers.

Ok, so getting ready to order this part...but considering this is a widely known issue, will the same situation occur? ie, is the part the same? Did you mount it the same?
I noticed on my rig when the seal was attached, they mounted the seal a bit higher in front of the rollers. Not sure if this was intentional. Can see the bottom edge is higher than on either side of the roller in this pic above http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...p;d=1560626614
Just dont want to spend $50ish + shipping only to have it happen again.

I just ordered the bottom wiper seal for my fridge slide on the 360IBL.
C01295114 SEAL, BOTTOM PAN ( THICKER) 12' $3.27 $39.24
Hoping "Thicker" means it is the new and improved version.

Hi.
Its not all that obvious is the pic's I took, but there is a 90 degree "lip" on the bottom of the "inside - side - ie: the side with the glue strip".
That should orient it appropriately BUT there are floor supports under the rollers. I took the whole thing out - laid it on the floor, laid the new one beside it and CUT out a slightly larger area under the roller areas (there are already cut outs there), and when installing it - I whacked it with a mallet to seat it LOW as possible (still on the lip of the lower side of the floor). Watch your fingers.
YES it seems VERY close to the rollers but seems OK for now.

wiper seal large slideout
Hi there,I have a 2019 Forest River Chaparal 30RLS.Your pictures look just like my situation ---5 rollers on slide and seal torn on all 5 rollers in a half circle. My seal measures 3 1/2 inches and is oressed up on the bottom floor so that it has enough slack or length to bend and make contact with the rollers.Seems like it could have been installed alittle lower just enough on the top to make a slight bend or contact with the floor. Measurement of vertical moulting area is 3 inches whitch would allow a 3 inch wide seal enough width to barely have it touch floor and still have enough left for the screws. My question to all of you is what did the send you in return and did it not get torn again after installation?

wiper seal large slideout
Did you mount it alittle lower so the bend wasn't able to touch rollers? My seal measures 3 1/2 wide and that is why they made the top bend to match the 3 inches leaving 1/2 inch bend in top that is too much and bends in and makes contact with the rollers causing them to rip. In your pictures it looks like the new seal measured 3 1/4 inchs. That should have given less rubber to bend in and touch rollers. Is thaqt what you did? thanks
