Wondering about the back rack

On our Chappy 29 RKS it has a folding rack on the back.It has a weight sticker on it that says 450# limit.I'm wanting to mount a aluminum tool box and our generator on it.It wont exceed that weight. My question is has anyone used the rack for some thing like this?Again, can't wait to pick it up on Wednesday.

Mine has a 125 pound limit and a spare tire for now so putting my 175 pound generator there is out.

Would the generator just have a cloth cover?
Does the size of the generator keep it there or can you move it easy?

Our genny is a 4500 watt.It only weighs about 100#.I will bolt it to the rack and build a aluminum travel cover for it.It has a cloth cover, but want a little more protection.I may even build a rubber mount of some kind to help with the bounce shock back there.Just in the planning stages now.Next week end will be busy getting it all put together.WE worked this week getting all of our stuff out of the 08 Outback that we are trading in.Dw is going to get it all cleaned as I have a pretty bust week with work and having to take the day off for the drive to Tulsa.

Ah.

I guess your generator is a few decibels quieter than mine.

Will you do anything to pipe the exhaust away from the trailer (up)?

My Vcross has a 250 lb limit and that is exactly what I have. Look at this video.

That's a great idea.I'm not going to put my gen in the box though I may rethink that.

If your TT came with a rack I say go for it but stay in the weight limits.

Yep there are bumpers and there are bumpers (and frames) some are designed to carry weight and come with or have optional racks and some don't. As said here, keep within the rating of your specific bumper or rack AND you will be okay.

My 5er is SO heavy on the front (25%) by the time I get it loaded, it is helpful to have something on the rear behind the axles to keep the pin weight reasonable. Others can put nothing on the back and their bumpers and rear froames are not made to carry ANY weight.

That is why I'm going to have my tools and heavier items on the back. Use the front basement for lighter stuff.

I wonder if this is another (Trick Sticker) that really means (450# minus the weight of the Rack Assy.)? Youroo!!
