Fat man on the roof?
I am contemplating ways to get on the roof of my Puma 356, assuming it will hold my weight. But I don't have an extension ladder and hate to spend the money on one just for this. Plus I really don't trust the aluminum ladder mounted to the side, I'm not ready to let the Wife cash in the life insurance policy although I'm sure she wouldn't mind much.
I do have a stepladder but it's not quite tall enough to allow me to get on top. So what I am wondering is if anyone knows if the slideout roof will hold about the same weight as the TH roof. It would be easier to get up on that first, then up on the top. BTW I'm about 230 lbs.
Thanks!

The slide outs are constructed differently from the roof. The roof is designed to hold the weight for things like cleaning etc. The slides are not designed to be weight bearing.

I was 280 when I bought my camper and was up and down that tiny towel rung-like ladder a few times. It's held me since then (and fortunately a slightly lighter me) with no issues.
You're good.

This question has come up before and I believe folks have mentioned how they went on factory tours and saw a couple of guys on the roof at the same time working...

305 lbs here and the roof holds me fine. Never put weight on the slides.

The roof is not a problem holding the weight, it is usually the ladders, they are only rated for either 250 or 300 pounds.

Being 230lbs, you'll be able to scamper that roof like a squirrel dancing on a tree limb!

i got the 356QLB toyhauler. it ain't got a factory ladder....is there one available for a retrofit? if so, where would i mount it? i presume on the passenger side. anyone got a ladder on theirs already? pics would be great. of course, i'd have to have it professionally mounted as i don't know where to mount it according to factory specs.

Thanks for the picture. I'm thinking of having one mounted on as well.
