Need Some Expert Opinions Please

I am not new to towing, but I am surely new to Fifth Wheel Towing. I have always had tounge pulls. Yesterday, I ordered a 351THSS Palomino Puma Toy Hauler for my wife of 38 wonderful years and I. I have a 2011 Ford Super Duty, 6.7 Diesel, Crew Cab (4 Door) Short Box pickup. I am need in to have installed a Fifth Wheel Hitch, but I have only confused myself while looking at all the options out there. I am sure this has been discussed before, so I hate to bring it up again, but I am new to the forum, site and have not read previous posts. It seems that many like the Superglides, and my nephew said I would need a slider with the short bed. I would greatly appreciate any input, expecially from anyone that may have the exact setup I own. I even read where some RV Manufacturers are changing the front cap and locating the King Pin out further to lessen the need for a slider. Is the 351THSS one of them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. May God Bless. Thank You

Hello, and to the forums. Hope you enjoy the stay, and learn a lot, and can teach others what you already know.

While I can't answer your question, I know some have the slider hitch, and use it, others have it and have not needed it, and some don't have one. Kind of mixed bag.

I also moved this to Palomino section, so maybe someone here can answer your question on the pin location.

although i'm no expert, but by looking at pics, i would think you would not need the slider. i have a 356QLB TH and it looks very similiar. true i have a long bed. if the dealer doesn't think you need one, then take a tape measure and start measuring to double check. i don't see any downside to going ahead and getting a slider unless it boils down to price. just my two cents.

I have a short box Chevy crew cab.
I have a slider and have not used it yet .
But I don't want to get into a situation where I wish I'd have gotten one and didn't.

I don't think you can measure and "see" if you might need one.

My pro ride slider 15k was 800.00 installed.

Don't guess on this one.
