Palomino Puma 356 QLB

I have a 2012 356 qlb Toy Hauler, In the cargo area on the left side wall is a sticker located close to the cable hook up, it reads TV BACKER, I assume this is where I can install a TV mount for a flat screen? If so how?

Use the screws supplied with your new mount. Lots of styes to choose from. Try monoprice.com Just make sure to measure the thickness of the wall and the length of the screws before you pull the trigger on your cordless drill.

Gaspeddler,
Going by feel on the wall, I am assuming the stud is directely above the sticker, how far up and how wide, is a guessing game. Pictures were a great help thanks, how far above the sticker did you mount yours?

You have some room to work with. I believe I read somewhere that there is a piece of 3/4 plywood behind that wallboard. I mounted mine about 3-4 inches to the right of the sticker. Use a stud finder, perhaps someone else will comment on what type of backing is in that wall.

One of the other issue you may run into is that most of the time the manufacturer only pulls a single cable Concertone to TV, and no video and sound. So if you want to view DVDs and such, it might not work.

I put in a distribution amp that was on sale at Radio Shack. Yeah, I was surprised too that Radio Shack had something for the right price that I could use.

My big problem is getting the audio output of the Concertone to the TVs. Its not a huge issue since the speakers go everywhere, but I like to plug in earphones from time-to-time and no audio to the TVs makes that a bummer.

Palamino also uses the "rat's nest" philosophy when putting these things in. There is very little organization or cable tying off similar functions.

The decision not to run Audio to the TV from the Concertone especially in the living area was due to the fact that you would be using the speakers connected to the Concertone, not the TV. This was smart for a number of reasons such as the smaller, poor sound speakers found in LCD TVs today. BUT ng2951, you bring up an interesting point with the use of Headphones once in a while. I hate to admit, my own hearing is not as god as it used to be so sometimes at night I also use headphones so as to not to wake up my wife even a floor away.

How many folks would actually like the ability to use headphones?
In the living area only?
Through out the RV?

Thanks!

Count me in for headphones!! I'm like you....my hearing isn't the greatest and my DH always turns down the volume on me. Headphones would be super cool! Especially if I could use a wireless version.

Yes, I knew the reason why they did not, but its still a pain since it is difficult to find that output on the Concertone, if it is in the "rat's nest." Worse still I have to find a way to drag it from curb side of the RV to driver side.

Of course, I am not happy with the Concertone in general. Spock would not have found its programming configuration logical. Radio side is about as bad as it gets. Its almost as bad as one of the old AM only radios in 1960s era Ford truck.

Plus side is it plays about any DVD format.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but to the OP or anyone else that owns a 356QLB. I just wondered how you like it.. Any pros or cons? We are picking ours up next week.

Thanks

I have its baby brother and I like the unit. My actual favorite is the 298 5ver since it does not have any slideouts. The 356 is a much nicer 298, with the garage and loft.

My biggest dislikes are the fact that they do not put many (or any) 12 volt outlets in. That is a bummer since when we dry camp we use some 12 volt fans, electric blankets, and charge cells with them.

The other issue is that they do not drag a video cable and headphone cables to all the remote places in the trailer. All you have is the outside TV antenna. That makes it a big problem when you want to watch satellite or DVDs.

Though slideouts make the interiors much more roomy, I much prefer units with out. Just one more thing I don't have to maintain.
