Tongue weight?

We own a 2009 Palamino Puma Unleashed 27 SBU toyhauler that I would like to find the approx. tongue weight. The GVWR is 11061 and the UVR is 7000. Can anyone help?

There are quite a few threads on here about how to weigh your trailer.

I would imagine with a toy hauler your tongue weight will be greatly affected by how much weight you have in the garage. You should still have a minimum of 10% and preferably 15% so you with a 2000 pound payload plus options not specified in the dry weight you would have at least 900 pounds but as much 1,350

As mentioned, the best thing to do is to load it up ready to camp and take it to a Cat scale.

Weight...

We will have our Polaris ATV in the garage, approx. weight 700#. Weighing all iitems, approx., believe total should not be more th@n 2000# total including the ATV. Will not be hauling any water until reach destination. The GVWR is 11060 pounds, the UWR 6961 pounds. So if we haul no more than 9000 pounds should be good. I will take to local scale and weigh with my 2017 Nissan Titan XD diesel hooked up for total weight. My truck details capability to haul 13,000 pounds.

BTW, will be using Weight distributing system, V5, that we have used on other trailers. The bar rating is 800 pounds. Plus am thinking a Timbren SES NRTTNA support system on my truck.

Forest River has over 100 brands, so it would help if you posted what brand got the recall, because this thread is in the Palomino sub-forum.
Is it for a Palomino product?

The brand is actually Palomino. They build the Puma line. They are a division of FR, Inc.

Just curious what was the recall for ?? We owned a Puma Unleashed for 6 trouble free years....... loved it. But DW wanted something with more living area. The Unleashed was a 2013, our 2006 Puma was a smaller 5th wheel but I can 't remember the numbers

Recall...

Forest River recalll stated that if large bump was struck by any trailer wheel that it was possible that the wheel could hit the wheel well. My thought is that it would have to be one heck of a bump and considerable speed for this to happen.

Always a treat when someone hijacks his own thread. Tongue weight? Nah, let's talk recalls!

I have a Sherline. Great tool to have. Mine goes to 1000#. OP should buy the 2000# model.

You're close. "Sherline" is the name. Designed by a guy who pulled a race car trailer and wrecked it due to insufficient tongue weight. About $145 on Amazon for the 2,000# model. 5,000# model is slightly cheaper but the 2,000# model puts most tongue weights right in the center of the gauge scale where it's most accurate. I'd consider this a must for a toy hauler considering the amount of load going in the back and how it might be positioned differently from time to time. A cheap piece of insurance and no need to run back and forth to the "Cat Scale".

A lot of people don't know that the Sherline 1K, 2K and 5K models are the same scale with a different gauge. I started with a 1K and ordered the 2K gauge from them when I got a larger trailer. Unscrew one and screw in the other.
