Unleashed Ramp/Patio

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm playing fireman today so I figured I'd do a little pre-planning for our next toy hauler. Its always fun to shop for campers, even when its a little ways away.

Anyway, I'm really thinking the Puma is what we might go with. The family's getting smaller with the eldest son in college and not as interested in camping like he used to be. So its me, the wife, and the 15 year old son. That 45' Cyclone we used to have is way overkill and way overpriced. I'm seeing Unleashed 5ers in the low $30,000s compared to $60,000+ for the big named brands.

Our very first camper was a 30FQSS way back in 2004. What an awesome camper that was. So getting another Puma sounds like a great deal to us. But I would like to get as much as I can since the price of the camper itself isn't too bad compared to those XLRs, Raptors, Fuzions, etc.

Two ACs. 50A service for sure. Probably some other nice little things when the time comes. But one thing I'm not sure about is the rear ramp door.

Do the Puma toy haulers have the option of the rear ramp door being the patio? I'm not 100% sure what that's called but I'm sure everyone's seen it. I really like the idea of having the patio off the back when we're backed up to the lake at our favorite campground.

I have not seen the option on a Puma unleashed yet. From what I understand it's a different/ heavier ramp door in back. That said they all appear to use the same hinges, so if you custom order one, maybe it could be done, but you're going to have to find a dealer that is willing to think outside of the box to get the legwork accomplished. Good luck and if you manage to get it spec'd that way let us know.

I have looked into to it and Puma does not offer it as a option but, you can buy the ramp door patio kit online for approx. 1200.00 shipped to your door and then take a hour or so to simply mount it to your ramp door.

I have looked at too many toy hauler ramp doors and I really believe the Puma ramp is as heavy duty as anything else I have looked at. I load a 1700 lb RZR into ours all the time and there is NO flex in the ramp door at all.

With all that said, I really think a 'patio system' could be fabricated and installed in a day or less for a hell of a lot less than 1200.00......

On my last toy hauler, a 27sbu, I made my own patio deck using "bed bolts" and some 3/8" diameter plastic covered braided steel chokers, never planned on doing the railing but it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out

Not the exact cable I used, I believe I found a 9ft one at Walmart

We have a Puma Unleashed 356QLB love it and its basically trouble free......

No ramp patio option was available that I am aware of. Where we go camping, the sites are not big enough to leave the door open, so I have never given it much thought. I am sure a patio could be fabricated on the door.

I am thinking about doing this with my 2015 Puma Unleashed 21TFU. How is this holding up? Any bending or warping on the door or frame?
