07 Montana 5thwh. NASTY water.

A friend of mine owns the above mentioned trailer. His water whether park hook-up or fresh storage is absolutely nasty. He uses an in line filter as well as under cabinet whole unit filter. They are changed on a regular basis. This weekend I am going to attempt a complete water system flush out with 50/50 bleach and water mixture. This includes the entire fresh water system and tank, Grey water system and tank and the black water tank will get a flushing out as well. The hot water heater and all valves are under a cabinet in a very tight area. The water lines are NOT color coded and I have a feeling that he mite have managed to allow some old stale water from fresh water tank into the rest of the system by playing with the valves. The camper is in a seasonal site and does not get moved. I am hoping that my flushing the system will do the job. I do not have any manuals however I know which valves need to be open and closed as needed. ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated. also need to mention that the roof vent is not obstructed. His black and grey holding tanks have the stirring blades but are not used due to his lack of knowledge on their significance.

He has the 6 gallon hot water heater and the anode rod has been removed in lieu of the sediment filter.

Thanx for the link. I can copy any pertinent material and tag it along for the ride. I would like to thank f1100turbo for sending me a beautiful link to aid in this dilemma.. I will post results next week. I have owned campers for years. I am not naïve to maintenance and repair. However after we reach a particular age, It's nice to watch someone else make the repair for you. I am not there yet.

Your welcome! Good luck.

As you stated before a healthy dose of bleach will definitely help!

That is a pretty strong solution of bleach. The usual recommendations is 1/4 cup to every 15 gallons of water.
