i've had the same thoughts and it would be easy to get the 220 out of the trailer breaker box. what has stopped me, so far, is that i only get 50 amp service abt half the time. i wouldn't be able to use my drier if not on 50.
had even thought abt gas for the dryer. in the end i stuck with my slow but available combomatic.
