262BHXL Water heater bypass valves

Hello I am new to this and can't find any information on where my water heater bypass valves are located at in my camper. I have a 2014 262BHXL that we have just recently purchased. I am also interested in finding an owners manual for this TT as well. I did get most of the appliance paper work with it but did not know if there is an actual owners manual. I tried Forest Rivers web site but did not have much luck. Thanks for any help I can get on these issues.

If you don't have a plumbing station, which most trailers don't (but some do), then they are miost likely located right behind your water heater.

You may need to open a false cabinet, unscrew a bed bottom, remove a drawer, etc to gain access. Each model RV is different in this aspect.

Once you locate the water heater on the outside, then you can go inside the RV to figure out how to gain access to the back of the water heater.

Once you do find the bypass valves, then this post link may help:

Locating an 'actual' owners manual is next to worthless.
It is generic at best and is very little help.

I'd love to go to work for Forest River and help them design their manuals but then I'd be putting some 2nd grader out of a job!

Seriously, I REALLY love our FR unit but their documentation is below sub-par.

If you know where the water heater is there should be some valves near it that will by pass hwh.

Could be. I have been involved in other threads where that's where it was and the mattress had to be removed and the plywood unscrewed.

Is there perhaps any panel in front of the bunk that can be opened/removed. The access to mine requires removing fake hinges from a panel underneath my pantry door.

Also, is there any outside storage compartments that go under the bed. Sometimes you can remove a side panel inside the storage compartment to gain access.

Always helpful if you post the brand name, since some share the same model number.

As was said, the owners manual is generic and has nothing specific to your trailer.

From pictures of your unit it is in the way back on the street side (drivers side) of the unit. My guess is that is is under the bottom bunk.

It appears that your kitchen is just to the left of the entry door. It also appears that the hot water vent would be directly behind the kitchen sink. If that is your layout, the hot water bypass valves would be below the cabinet floor under the sink cabinet. Your cabinet door may be taller than the cabinet iinterior. If so, there should be a false panel on the front face below the cabinet floor. This can be removed with great care without damage. The bypass valves should be there. If there was a previous owner, they may have modified the panel to make it more accessible.

my guess is the very back section under the back bunk. We have the 263bhxl and that's where ours is.

OK I went out and double checked the bottom bunk again pulling the mattress all the way out this time and guess what I found the hot water heater and valves. Unfortunately when they winterized it they must not have found them because they were still in the summer position so I flushed the tank out good and filled it back up and every thing is good now. By the fway it is a Salem Cruise Lite 262BHXL. Sorry for not posting that.

Wh bypass for wildwood bhxl

I used to own that TT. The bypass is under a panel under the bottom bunk. Remove a few screws and you should see 3 valves.

Go to "Edit CP" and "Edit Signature" and you can put your manufacturer & model number right in your signature. Then we'll always know what you have. See mine below.

Most FR products have 4"in diameter white disks that access different components. Lay on your back, under the access panel of the hot water heater, if there is a white disk, under the heater, unscrew it, with a flashlight look there in and I'll bet the valves are inside. They are such on my FR Georgetown and were on my Hemisphere
