Hudlow, you owe me some hot chocolate, since I spit a bunch out reading your post. Too funny.

Most use what everyone is calling a navy shower but you could take old hot water tank out and put in an on demand tank. Just remember you have to fill up water tank more often and empty grey water more often. I would use the campground facilities for my self and the wife and use the trailer shower for the little kids. When you live in the country on a well and septic system you really learn to conserve water usage.

5 minute shower is a "Navy Shower". with the 4 of us we can get 4 showers in with the water heater on elec./propane. the 4th person (ususally me) gets a luke warm shower. it can be done, it just takes practice!

I've taken a navy shower in our camper once when we were off the grid, I won't do it again if I can help it. We always use the bath houses at the camp ground except for giving my 3 year old a bath in the camper, the tub is just her size. My next camper will have a corner shower that I can actually stand up in, in the even that I have to use it...

Ha!
You think showers in RV's are a trial?...at least you usually have access to additional water. Try sailboats...your dilemma reminds me of a time a few years back when we were anchored in the Dry Tortugas (Florida...no supplies of any kind available...you pack your stuff in and you pack it out). Our then 14 year old niece, who was cruising with us for the first time and a complete newbie to boats decided to shave her legs while letting the water run as she always did at home...she went through a hundred gallons before I was able to stop her and then throw her overboard...

Twenty four years -------------
Twenty four years of Navy showers, I can tell you it works. Took a little of time to train my dear wife about Navy showers.
I have to agree with OC " wash my mouth out with soap" SHEESH! But I did change my thermostats from 120° to 140° as the first mod I did to my Rockwood fifth wheel and a little of training of the DW for Navy showers. Plenty of hot water.

We just did the change and really like it.

OC
Do you have part numbers for the 140° Thermostats? Do you have to change the high limit thermostats also?
Rick

They depend on your particular water heater. The thermostat/high limit is one unit.
NOTE: The elec. spades are different sizes and on different sides. The one I got from Camping Connection was the large spade (I had to cut them down) and on the opposite side. I had a heck of a time getting it to fit. The ones I ordered are the correct ones
Mine is a Suburban SW6DE and the pn is Suburban Heater T Stat Switch Assembly 232317
Purchased two from Supply Parts for $42 including shipping.

If I were going to turn up the heat with a new t-stat,
I'd probably just change the 120v AC one to 140 deg and leave
the LP as is.
WE usually camp with electric hookups so the rare times
we are off the grid we could live with 120 deg water via the LP burner.
