a propane tank question from a newbie

Hi, I'm glad I found this forum. We just picked up our Rockwood 2601 2 weeks ago. Have camped in it 7 days. Whenever the gas is on the tank(s) make a "ping - ping - ping" sound. It's actually been helpful at one point when we had a momentary power surge and the water heater switch to gas. The "pinging" alerted me. Is this normal? or part of the breaking in period? I'm anxious to know what's going on. Thanks!

This has came up several times and what I can remember is that it could be the regulator or the pigtail hoses going from the tank to the regulator. The hoses has a vavle in them that can be defected. The dealer should replace which ever is needed.

It's most likely the regulator. They ping and buzz and hum at times. If you're still under warranty I'd have them change it out. Especially since it's loud enough to bother you.

I have also heard pinging is common with newly filled tanks. It may go away after it is filled a couple of times. A regulator will usually buzz or hum.
