Thanks for the input everyone.
Out on road now at a little campground in Big Stone Gap, Va, for 3 days of R&R.
Reason to have an easily accessable switch is so I can turn it on/off as needed, especially when weather is hot, ac running 24/7, and wife wants to use the microwave, hair dryer, whatever, and cutting wh off won't "drain the amps".
Decided to do my mod, but will cut wire before it enters fuse/breaker panel, and mount the switch/plate next to the panel. Easy access, but not near water.

As for code in an RV, if my Lexi had to meet code it would have been rejected at the factory befor it rolled off the line. Water lines and electric wiring laying across moving parts of my besroom slide mechanism, water line with attached filter next to and above (I mean inches) the main fuse/breaker panel. If filter housing had ever split, it would have dumped water directly onto and into the breaker panel.
Needless to say I've fixed these "minor code violations" on my own.
Don't ever say "code" and RV in the same sentence.

You got that right. I pretty much tear the camper apart when we get a new one and I find all kinds of issues and fix them myself been owning campers a long time and one our 6th one now. They do not build them to any code.

I also like having the switch for the water inside and a light to let me know it;s on. We have seen to many things go wrong with other campers at parks to fires to flooding. If we leave the camper. The water gets shut off and the water heater. The only thing I will leave on is the AC on the roof.
