Air or the pink Stuff?
OK. I'm going to attempt my first winterization in a week or two but want to know pros and cons regarding whether to use air to blow it out everywhere (I can do) or the pink stuff in system (I can also do). RV is a 40 ft Cedar Creek with washer/Dryer. Comments suggestions...and especially any "gotchas"! Thanks.

Both here, too. Wasn't there a poll on the forum on this topic last week?

Air for me. Our dealer winterized it for us the first year with pink, but I had always used air on our prior TT so I went back to that.
That said, we live in a fairly tempurate area and do not experience the long hard freezes like many areas. Also, we do not have the ice maker or washer & dryer.

Both here as well....don't forget to add some pink stuff in your drain p-traps as well as have some in your toilet bowl to help keep that seal from drying out and getting brittle....being in SC you can probably get away with just blowing out your lines, but the pink stuff is so cheap why would you risk it in case you get a real harsh cold spell...takes minutes and it's cheap insurance...better to do it now, then find out you will get a real cold snap and have to go out and do it then.

Even though you blow it out you still got to use some pink stuff (p-traps/tanks).

Both here as well. Air and the pink stuff. The little things like, residual water at the city water connection check valve.
Try this little test, blow out the city connection, then just to see if all the water is evacuated, pop off the filter screen and press on the check valve. I have found that you still get a small amount of water to bleed out.

I blow my lines out with air, remove the water filter and pour some pink in the p traps. Never had any issues.

Both here X6. Just bought a little oil-less pancake compressor from HF for $50, that's going to be my dedicated and portable winterizing compressor. Adjustable output, dial it down to 30 PSI to get as much water out as possible--including blowing out the black tank flush--and then AF through the system with the water pump. Cheap insurance.

I go overboard...blow out lines, pump pink stuff, then blow out the pink stuff into a container which I then use in the traps and toilet bowl.
I only use 1 gallon for my 31' TT.

hook up the 60gallon shop compressor and blow it out till its all air out of every outlet.
gallon of pink for the traps n drains...
slap her on the butt and put her in storage...
I DO NOT like the pink stuff in my fresh system....
if you've ever worked with pex its pretty flexible....it would take a pretty significant amount of water freezing in it to bust one....I would be more worried about the check valves and such that are plastic..
nothing wrong with doing more tho....and if I was gonna use pink only I wouldn't bother to blow out lines....id just pump the pink in till it ran out .....then call it a day

OK I have a question here in NJ
Were heading to Myrtle Beach for Thanksgiving
Its still in the 40s-50s here in NJ
Do you think I should winterize before I leave or just watch the weather till then
I also want to put some Fresh water in the tank before we leave (To use during the trip down) I was planning on doing that right before we leave
On the way back
Do I winterize before we leave Myrtle Beach ? or wait till I get home
Thanks
Jason
