Air pockets in freshwater tank

Anyone ever have this problem? Seems to happen if the freshwater tank is half full. What happens is...... I try to fill it up, and water spits back at me, won't go into tank. Tank is only half full. Nuisance.

Sometimes it helps if I flush a toilet or run a faucet while the water tank is filling. Or, sometimes just use up the water that's in the tank, and when almost empty, then fill up. But this is a royal pain.

It's happened on all the Sunseekers that I have owned. I believe it's air pockets.

I have the same problem, but it seems to me that the vent for the tank gets full of water. I have tried to blow the water out with a small hose and and a lot of umph, that seems to help.

You need to angle the camper so that the tank is level for the system to work.

As you can see from a photo of my freshwater tank, when I am hooked up to my truck the tank is nose down. The vent line sees water when the tank is half full.

If you angle the camper differently, it will fill properly.

Gee lou, didn't know we had to level the motor home when just filling the tank....actualy I have had the problem when filling it at home if it was 1/2 full or more. It is level where I park it. Don't think that is the problem, but thanks.

The camper's fresh water tank may not be level in the camper. Mine is not; it is tilted forward even when leveled. I would need to raise the nose well above level to get a full water tank.

I have a vent in the fill area but also a vent hose out the bottom of the RV with a valve that I have to open to keep from getting a bath. Herk, I am truly impressed with not only your collection of photos but also your ability to produce them so quickly.

Also look at the vent line. Yours may even be more sagged.

A vent hose with a valve? Sounds like the drain hose for the water tank.
Mine is that white hose that goes to a toggle drain valve like the other photo.

Yeah, there are 2 valves on 2 lines down there. One of them is to drain the tank and the other one as I found out through trial and error is a vent. When I open it I could probably fill the tank with a firehose and when water comes out of that line I am full. BTW, the vent valve was added by the previous owner.

Nice. Wish mine was like that.
