Annoying horrible fasteners

Gahhhh how do I remove these fasteners so that I can replace a valve?!? They're too strong to bend or pry open. There is that tiny tab holding the end closed.

Thats a pex clamp, and it requires a special crimping/removal tool. Available at Lowes/Home Depot.
Needed to properly remove the crimp without destroying the tubing, and to re-crimp using a new pex clamp.
If in a tight space it can be a pain to use. You might want to look at using a "push on" or "shark bite" type fitting to replace the pex crimp clamps.

You can buy a tool, or use pliers and a flat blade screwdriver. I bought the tool since I needed to re-clamp the PEX lines when I put the WH back in.

Wait, there's a tool to remove them? I've fought them with small screw drivers and needle nose plyers. They're a friggin pain in the tushy to get off of there!

A good set of dikes (diagonal cutting pliers) will cut them off too.

X2... just get a good bite on them and they will come loose.

Hint... don't buy the $6 dykes

I tried snipping it with my heavy wire cutters and no joy. It's in such a tight area.

These are Oetiker clamps, not Pex clamps. I recommend Oetiker clamp tool to crimp, dykes to remove.

Yes and no. Correct in that they are Oetiker clamps but the are used on PEX tubing also but they call them “pinch clamps”.
