X2 on the PB Blaster. I'm not sure of your mechanical ability, but you might just take it to the dealer before you do something that can't be repaired. I'd think those guys would know all the tricks. Of course, that's if your dealer has good mechanics.

Just a thought if the heater will heat water. Let it warm up the tank and see it that might help, then slowly remove. Just a suggestion.....

The tank is surrounded by Styrofoam amd will be destroyed if you use a torch. Worse it could catch fire and release toxic gas (even if you manager to put it out).

Also when the heater is hot, apply ice cubes to the end of the anode rod, have a six point socket and breaker bar and make sure you turn left when looking at it (just in case as I have seen people trying to remove fasteners but turning in the wrong direction)

Turn counterclockwise as you are facing the heater.

My Surburan W/H anode rod threads are 3/4 NPT. I only use a 6pt 1/2 drive soc with a 6in ext and breaker bar. The soc is a standard 1-1/16 6pt. If all attempts for rod removal fail, the next post will be (How to remove a water heater from my R/V). Youroo!!

Only if the 'torch bearer' is an idiot!
I have done a lot trickier jobs with 100% success.
I looked at my tank, and it would be an easy job.

NOT helpful; unless you plan on traveling to his house and do the job, oh master of the blow torch.

I think we can close this thread, as the OP is no where to be seen, and the comments are getting personal.

I would prefer to see what the outcome is rather than close the thread. I may be faced with a similar situation and I can find the solution here.
