Bad Odor in kitchen area and cupboards

We have a 2014 Sabre 5th wheel model 34CKQS-6. We have been getting a bad grey tank odor whenever we run water down kitchen sink. Odor is in kitchen, living area and kitchen cupboards where there are water pipes. It does not matter whether we run cold water, hot water or combination of both. Smell knocks you over. We have dumped chlorine and water down sink, used grey tank deodeorizer tablets, we have put a bag and rubber band over vent under sink, nothing works. There doesn't seem to be a roof top vent for the kitchen grey tank. There are two vents above bathroom for grey tank and one for black tank, but nothing on roof in kitchen area. Should there be one? Does anybody out there have any other ideas we could try? We live in it for a couple of months during the winter. I am ready to sell it, if we can't get this resolved.

Have you tried a few rounds of 'fill it to the top with clean water, then dump'? Once the cause of the smell is in the tanks, only getting rid of it will actually get rid of it. Deodorizers don't help in that regard.

It prolly has a common grey tank vent piped in the wall? or underneath somehow. Did you replace the back flow(vent under sink)? I make the assumption that's all it is.

Oooohh I forgot. Does it have a P-trap? Some RVs have a weird trap system that may have malfunctioned. Cheap check

we did put a plastic bag over the vent under sink with rubberband around it. When we did that the smell was confined to another cupboard in kitchen where there is a pipe in it. We also have taken p-trap out and cleaned it, as well as filling grey tank with fresh water and dumping. Another thing we did is to switch the vent under the sink with the one from the bathroom sink where we have had no odors. None of the above has worked.

Is it a rotten egg smell? We had that a few times and I know how to get rid of it

No, not rotten egg smell, nor a sewer smell. It is a grey tank smell.

I have read reports of vent lines run in wall panels that were only press fit at the factory and not glued like they should have. Hope that isn't your issue.

That doesn’t sound good. We will probably end up taking it back to the dealer for them to fix that.

Same thing happened to us. Under your sink there should be a PVC pipe extending up from your P Trap with an Air Admittance Valve on top. This is most likely the problem. You should have one in the BR as well, go ahead and replace both they are pretty cheap. Solved our problem right away!

I installed a Studor 20346 REDI-VENT Air Admittance Valve from Amazon. It stopped the smell from under my sink.

Thanks to all that replied.. My plumber son-in-law cut a small hole in the top of our cabinet by outside wall where grey tank pipe went to. He run a camera up there and we found out that there is a Studer air admittance valve that is not working. Now we have to cut a larger access hole to replace this valve. What a mess. In my opinion, they should have either put an access door there in the first place if these vents fail regularly or just vented it to the roof!

If you could cut it square(even the size of a picture frame) and frame the cutout to replace.

We are planning on cutting it the size of the access door we are going to buy when we buy the new Studer Air Admittance Valve.
