black tank flush

Just completed first trip with new 2016 Apex Ultra Lite 250RLS. Got ready to leave site and dumped black tank then hooked water to black tank flush and did not get any water into tank. Can't find any documentation of how the flush is supposed to work. Any help?????

There is a vacuum breaker/check valve between the outside hose inlet and the tank sprayer. It is usually located up high under the bathroom sink. When my sprayer stopped working this was the problem. The part is only a few bucks, but mine was hard to get to.

Safe travels.

Once you find it, you can pull it out and just put a connector in the line. It is a useless part and does absolutely nothing but impede the flow of water.

It is not useless and it does do something very important.

It is a cross connection device designed to prevent back flow of black water into the potable water system.

I agree with OldCoot and have bought a connector to carry with me for the next time. Here is a link with drawings that I hope works. Flusher

Safe travels.

Some of us have had luck turning on the water supply very slowly. It has worked for me for a couple of years now. Too much pressure too fast will cause trouble. That check valve is required and should either be working, or it should be replaced.

Has nothing to do with the potable water. Trace it out.

nomad297, Where does the black tank flush interconnect with the potable water system?

It has everything to do with the potable water. You should not have a solid connection from a potable water supply to a contaminated water source. If conditions are right, there is the possibility of water siphoning out of the black tank and into the campgrounds/city's water system.
