Black Tank Lubricant
The dump valve on my black water tank is difficult to open and close. What would be the proper lubricant to free up the valve without affecting the seals?

Some type of cable lube will do as long as you can work out a way to apply it the full length.
Did it just become hard or has it been over time?

I used some inexpensive vegetable oil. Make sure tank is empty, use a litre and work the valve to lube the seals.

Has it always been difficult? If not it may be damaged, might not be a bad idea to buy a spare to keep on hand just in case.

There was a thread here awhile back where someone found the cable and housing kinked from a bad install causing it to bind up.
While a spare is a good idea the cause needs to be looked into and corrected.

Mine had to be replaced after the first time I used it you would think the factory would try it before it left

And the dealer should have tried it while getting it ready for the PDI.

My grey tank valve is very hard to pull and it's been like it since day one. When I did my rerouting sewer modification, I took the thing apart, greased it up with some silicone grease and it worked easy peezy, on my work bench. When I put it back in place, tightened the 4 nuts, back to the original , hard to pull operation again. I just use both hands to pull that valve. In time, the handle will break. perhaps I should have a replacement on hand. Defer to next spring. Out of site, out of mind.

CW sells a product that you dump in your empty tank and let it set for 4 hrs or so if I remember. I had a hard time pulling mine open after I used it no problem like before. It is also a protection for your seals. I used it in all 3 tanks. I think I used a quart.

I've been told you can use peanut oil also. Never tried it, but the TST stuff is just coconut oil.
