I've been rv'ing for 30 plus years and have tried 'em all. Some RV Parks insist you use an evironmentally friendly treatment but if you want a very economical treatment that works as well as any of them, try this. I've used it for about 10 years now and it does the job it is supposed to.
1 cup of Borax (soap)
1/2 cup of pine sol ( it doesn't make your tank smell like perfume)
1/4 cup of ammonia
Mix the ingredients into 1 gallon of water. I use about 2 cups per tank. Maybe more than needed but it's cheap. I mix 2 gallons at a time.

I'm with OC here - BlueStreak is an amazing gadget. We got ours at the FROG International rally last year and the guy was giving out a extra bottle of Bluestreak with every purchase. Got to talking to him and wound up getting 2 extra bottles, so we are probably set for another year

Pre-blue streak, I was experimenting with a home brew (based off of OC's home brew above): Equal parts
water
SuperClean
Pinesol
Calgon
Dawn dish soap (darn near the best degreaser out there!)

I will drop SuperClean from my homebrew when I run out of the Gallon I bought last year

They put it in the trash can. Hey I know, different strokes, different folks.

We use the same toilet paper as we do at the house (Quilted Northern 2 ply) and we DO put it in the toilet

At a RV show earlier this year I saw a high end Motorhome that had a toilet with a bidet so I guess you could go paperless if you wanted

Brian,

It was a Monaco Dynasty. The unit even had *heated* Tile floors!!!

The dealer told me it was a option they installed on their coaches - I *think* it was called a "Biffy" he seemed to indicate you could purchase one as a aftermarket add on.

It's amazing what you can put into a Motorhome when price is no object (I think this baby went for $750K as I recall

Don't dump till it's at east 3/4 full. If you have to go to a dump station and it's not full, fill it before you go, most dump stations don't have a hose with a working end on them. Use a 45 degree clear adapter. If possible fill and dump until the water runs clear. Add a gallon or two and a bio enzyme pack when stored.

If you think it is dirty, try to empty first. Then add liquid dishwasher soap and 2 bags of ice and drive around for a while before dumping & flushing. I had a stinky tank and two of these treatments took care of it for good.

I take it you want to know how to treat your black tank, not clean it. The Geo method is the one we use and find it great to clean our black tank. To treat our tank, between cleanings, we use natural enzyme products that will digest waste and toilet paper. You can find them at Wmart, RV store, Camping World, etc. We have been RVing for 10 yrs and are on our 4th RV. The aforementioned suggestions have worked for us. Hope this answers you question.
