Black Water Tank Unusable

We own a 2014 Shasta Oasis 26RL. We are unable to use the toilet because when you flush the toilet, the waste empties onto the top the the black water tank. The solids do not go into the tank. They just back up into the toilet. We bought the camper from Camping World and they say that it is a design flaw. Nobody at Forest River will talk to me. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?

I've never heard of this before now. I take it for granted you bought this Shasta used. Forest River only warrants for the original owner. Camping World should take care of this for you. It is not a design flaw.
I honestly don't know why folks buy RVs from Camping World with all the stories I've heard about them.

Sounds like they forgot to cut a hole in the tank before mounting the toilet. Or you tank is full of solids.

I agree about not buying from Camping World again. There actually is a hole, but it's about 4" over from where it should be - it's not directly under the toilet opening. Another hole cannot be cut because the holding tank dump pipe is directly underneath.

It sounds to me like the toilet became detached from the tank and the tank shifted in location. Maybe take a look underneath and see if you can tell whether or not the tank is in the correct place. Maybe a previous owner started pulling away from a site with the stinky slinky still hooked up as I can't imagine that ever leaving the factory as such or being acceptable to anyone at all. No way it can be considered a design flaw in my book.

No, the tank did not shift. Hoping to reach somebody at Forest River and see if they have suggestions.

That's really strange. Thinking about the construction process, I highly doubt that they pre-drill the toilet connection in those tanks until they are ready to install the toilet. I'm guessing they mount the tank and then to install the toilet, they use a hole saw right through the floor and into the tank to make sure the alignment is correct. It would keep from having to measure precisely.

Any way you can check to see if the vent pipe is installed correctly?

Was this unit used? Or did you buy it new and its last years hold over? If there was an S shaped pipe between toilet and tank do you think it would line up? If it was a new hold over sounds like this got put in wrong dealer should fix warranty. Any way about it they should fix it Camping World seems to have this rep everywhere.

We bought it used - there's no warranty on it. The cost will end up coming out of our pocket. I'll have to ask my husband about the S shaped pipe.

This is not a warranty issue. It is a fraud issue. If the unit they sold you is totally unusable because the toilet and tank are not connected you were defrauded.
