Blackwater flush system drain valve?

I just purchased a new 2013 Sunseeker 3010DS that has a blackwater tank spray cleaning system. I have heard different "how to" regarding having the dump valve open or closed when in use. It seems if the valve is open there wouldn't be any water in the tank to clean it. One source said if I close the drain pressure will build up an runpture the tank. What is the correct way open or closed - any tip would be appriciated.

Welcome to the forum!

The black tank is vented so adding water to it via the black tank flush with the dump valve closed won't cause any pressure build-up. They warn to have the dump valve open when using the flush to not fill the tank and overflow into the camper. The flush is a spray nozzle so it's most effective cleaning the tank walls when the tank is empty.

After flushing and emptying mine I close the valve about 30 seconds while the sprayer is still going, then open the valve again. Remember to always add a couple gallons of water after you flush/drain.

This is how I use mine as well.

I also added a flush to my gray tank and it has helped get kitchen food and grease bits, as well as soap scum, off the walls.
