Take the ring and screw it onto the hose. Step from Rhino people: Coat the end of the hose and the threads of the ORANGE part with a good lathering of Vaseline. It acts as a sealant to keep things from dripping (it worked for me). Follow the arrows on the ORANGE piece and screw it onto the hose (keep the ring away from it at this point). I thing it was left to tighten, not the usual righty tighty.
After the hose is screwed up tight to the inside of the threads on the orange thing (not to tight or it might break loose and you need to start again) thread the ring back towards the orange part and tighten so it rachets onto the "teeth" of the orange part.
