Can’t get my water pump to draw from antifreeze bottle

Just blew out my water line and put the extended hose into a new bottle of antifreeze. Turned on the water pump. Turned the valve to be inline and opened a calf water faucet and it won’t draw in any fluid. Unless it takes a while in which case I need to wait? Pump is definitely running.

i may be wrong (its happened before) so get another opinion. from your picture i am assuming the antifreeze line is the white line that comes out of the diverter valve at a right angle (the line with the blue stripe). yet it looks as if the valve is set to draw from the line that goes straight through (which i assume would be the fresh water tank). it could be possible to blow out the plumbing lines using the fresh water connector with the valve that controls city water / fresh water tank set to the city water position. just for drill try turning the diverter valve in your picture 90 degrees and see what happens.

Actually it’s the other way around. The solid white hose attached the solid blue one is the antifreeze intake. The valve was in the “off” or bypass position and I moved it to be inline assuming that’s what it needed to be in to allow the hose to draw fluid in. Overall pic:

as i said i have been know to be wrong. sorry. i dn;t have an answer but your last picture raises a question. you say the solid white line connected to the short blue line is the antifreeze input. but the line you have inserted into the bottle has a blue stripe on it. is there another connection of some type between the solid white antifreeze line and the blue stripe antifreeze line?

Appreciate you trying to help. Thank you.

That one piece is the same throughout with the blue line running down the hose. It just happens to twist as it attaches to that blue piece so that the blue line is at the bottom and is not visible. But it’s the only connector tube there that I assume is for drawing in antifreeze

possibly raise the jug so the pump doesn't have to lift the antifreeze as much. might even pour a bit of antifreeze into the line and raise the line to let the antifreeze drain into the pump and prime it.

plus there can't be any pressure on the outlet side of the pump. first open something to let off all pressure in the coach. Most times I do this at the outside shower since that is near my antifreeze hose. I open this hose until you hear the pump start to pickup antifreeze, than close the outside shower valve and proceed to go winterize your camper. PS: when you change to the 2nd gallon of antifreeze, you might have to release all pressure again before it will pickup.

For anyone else who pulls up this thread...
I had the same problem while winterizing my trailer today. I had the shower open so back pressure wasn't the problem. Turned out, there was a screened washer on the anti-freeze port that was plugged. Cleaned it off and all was well.

No antifreeze

Raise the bottle. I raise mine higher than the pump.

Pumps do a good job of sucking but it won't pull antifreeze past a plug!

Don't feel too bad. We've all been there one way or another.

My only hope is to continue to have learning moments right up to the end.

Thanks for coming back with the solution.
It will help others in the future.

LOL. that would definitely make it hard to suck antifreeze out of the bottle. Thanks for letting us know what the problem was.

It's what is known as "a learning experience". Great job swallowing your pride and posting the solution, some just disappear and never return.

Look at pic in post #8. The White piece on the end of the hose is a plug. You can't suck up AF with the plug still on the end of the hose. It needs to be open to suck up liquid.
