Our 2016 WJ is exactly like yours, I was thinking about shooting some expanding foam in there but with the hatch cover closed we have not had any issues with rain water coming in, don't know about bugs, but don't think so.
Ah, just realized we put a 45 degree elbow on our outlet so the hatch cover is closed all the time except when flushing the black tank.
