they need to change the name of this forum to "fresh tank fills when on city water" the most common thread other then tow weights. Your check valve in your water pump is stuck open. turn off your city water. run the water pump and it should fix itself.

Very common. You may need to reset the back flow valve.

Turn off city water
Run water until it stops
Turn on water pump
Open any faucet for a minute
shut off faucet
Once pump stops turn off pump
turn on city water

Do not run water pump when using city water.

Use the search function and you'll find a new thread every week that describes this problem.

Resetting the check valve in the water pump usually works until you run the pump while city water is connected.

Adding an inline check valve on the input to your water pump is a permanent fix.

Do you happen to have the Anderson Kantleak set-up as mentioned in the following thread? It MAY require a different solution.

Thank you all for the responses. Disconnected city water. Then ran water pump as suggested. Now waiting to see if problem was resolved. Thanks again for all responses

Fresh water tank fills on city water

Will this complaint never stop? Are water pumps getting worse? 99% chance your pump is allowing pressurized city water to backfill the tank. This is probably the biggest complaint of new people to the forum. Easiest solution...get a new pump. They are easy to install.

Also, too high city water pressure can overcome a perfectly good check valve in the pump.

Make sure you are using a quality water pressure regulator.

Cheaper to install check valve on pump inlet. A fraction of the cost and a new pump is no guarantee the problem won't resurface.
