Cold water valve?

I am wondering if there is a reason the cold water turns in the wrong direction on the bathroon sink faucet? It is a small thing but irritating.

Yeah, there's a reason. Low bidder!

They use the same cartridges as the ones with the lever handles but put knobs on them, so the hot and cold knobs turn opposite directions. There's two ways to fix it. Replace the faucet with one from a local building supply store or buy replacement lever handles to fit the existing stems.

My vote is replace the faucet.
