I used some pretty strong chlorine in my 500 gal hot tub and it only made my grass grow nice and green where the water drained across it. In mid summer that was the only grass that got watered.[emoji16]

Cracks me up how people are concerned about sanitizing RV plumbing, but do not effectively sanitize their fresh water hoses connecting their RV to the hose bib. Poll coming soon!

But everything I read says to allow 4 hours contact time (this sounds excessive), and obviously the bleach is not going to be in the hose for more than a brief moment as you run fresh water through it.

I put bleach into the hose concentrated. Then use water to push it into the tank and fill it up diluting it. With full strength it will not take 4 hrs and I run 40+gallons through it to rinse it out when filling the tank. Seems to work so far.

It would be easy enough to fill the hose with a bleach-water combo mix and screw the ends together and leave them connected for a few hours or over night.

Then rinse several times.

thinking about using my home brewing pump. Circulate bleach solution through from a bucket, let sit for a bit, then pump fresh water through.

when you get a new TT, do you need to disinfect the FW tanks before you use them?

Probably not...

But it wouldn't hurt anything.

However, if you live where there is chlorinated city water, then chances are you can fill the tank and plumbing and let it sit for a couple of days.

That would do the trick as well.
