I always let the hose run for awhile to rinse it out. No point putting air into the system.

I've never seen that air is a problem so I'm not as concerned with that.

I have learned to carry a clean white bucket with me. Before I hook any water supply to my camper, I run a bucket full of water to see what it looks like. Sometimes the water quality is so poor that I don't even want to wash with it, much less make coffee with it.
We once stayed at a small family owned campground near Piqua, Ohio and the water was so bad that it clogged my whole house filter in three days. The filter looked as if it had been dipped in red paint.

I use a shut off valve on the end of the hose to bleed air before I connect to the RV. No sense in adding stagnant water from hose and air into the water system. Purge only takes a half minute.

I always flush out my drinking hose before attaching it... clears out anything that has gotten into the hose since last use, and also clears out anything that was in the campsite water line just before the water valve. In addition you are purging as much air out of the line rather than sending it into your camper where the faucet, toilet, shower will hiss, sputter and spit for a few seconds while the air is purged from the lines you introduced. Doesn't really hurt anything that I can tell and I don't believe it is a wrong or right thing, just choice and preference. Just like us... there is always my way and their way, and someone has to give!

I turn on the campsite spickot, then connect the hose turn the water back on to flush out the hose, then connect to RV. Flushing is my objective.

Nope ... never. Simply open a hot and cold faucet inside and purge through there, especially the hot water side.

Also, when I disconnect the water hose, I drain it, coil it up, and connect the ends to keep contaminants out.

Seems like a no brainer to get the air out before hooking up.

I prime every time, not only to prevent a hose full of air in the system, but also to flush the hose a little before hooking to the RV.

I have a valved Y adapter at the RV end of the hose. I turn both valves off then open the hose connection on the other end and pressurize the hose. I then open the valve on the open side of the Y adapter and purge the air out of the hose. I then close that valve and then open the one into the water filter that's connected to the other side of the Y adapter and the RV. I'll still get a little air from the filter but not nearly as much as if I didn't purge the hose. Also, I have a pressure regulator on the inlet side of the Y adapter. It works great.

I agree with Retiree and I add one step: I run the water from the source to visually check for sediment and rust BEFORE connecting my hose. When it runs clear, I connect and flush / prime the hose. Then I connect the hose to the trailer and turn on my shut off valve SLOWLY while listening to hear if there is water running (indicating a plumbing leak / fault) . I have been doing that for years.

I always run a couple gallons through the hose & then the filter before connecting to the rig. Never know what's in the line or hoses. Also cools off the hose & filter. I put a Y connector at the park spigot, at the end of the hose to facilitate flushing, connection of black water flush hose, rinsing out/freshening pet water bowl, etc.

I do. Have hose valves and caps and plugs to hold water and keep ends clean. Hate the sputtering. Also, since I often pull water from a tank in my tow vehicle (with the pump in the RV), keeping the hose full avoids the need to prime the system.

I have never done it and it may not be neccessary, but I think it is a good idea and I will do it from now on. Thanks for the idea!

I do the same but not for the same reason. I want to make sure no debris from the spigot or hose gets into the RV.

Yes & No. I have a T which the filter and hose connect to the trailer.I has a faucet attached to it which I leave open to bleed off any air. It also lets me bleed the pressure off before disconnecting.
