Yes, they help. By reducing stress on the connection the elbow reduces leaks. On our fresh water fill, one has eliminated leaks when nothing else did, including new seals.


Putting one on the black tank flush made for easier connection, always worthwhile. I've use both brass and plastic ones and prefer plastic because it causes less wear than brass.

The water pressure regulator should be before the filter and hose. Unfortunately I learned that lesson the hard way; an in-line filter’s plastic shell self-destructed in the night from the water pressure, flooding out a neighboring tent camper.

I put my pressure regulator after the filter and before the hose. Keeps any crap out of the regulator. But then I also use a whole home type filter rated for pressure.

Depends on where you travel, many years ago when I lived near a city the water company pressure at the street was 160 psi. I had to hunt down a high pressure filter, before internet days. This isn’t unusual in mountain locations.
