Hi
We have had our RV for 3 years and have only been able to take it out a couple of times in the last 2 years. The first year was good, never used the toilet though we initially weren't planning on using the toilet anyway but last year my husband had surgery and the toilet had to be used. We cleaned and winterized it and all was good when we cleaned it out and got ready for our first trip this year.
We dumped the contents of the black and grey water tanks and added fresh water and the chemicals and came home. We were only out 3 days but only spent the nights at the trailer.
2 days after we were home, I went to clean up, you know the regular house chores, and low and behold, what an odor greeted me when I opened the door
I automatically assumed we didn't clean out the black tank enough so I proceed to do it again, except I have to run the black water by bucket in the house to dispose of it.
Anyway, did 5 trips and then added fresh water and the chemicals and thought all was well until the next day. Same odor but stronger and with the humidity we've been having it is unbearable. Lysol spray had become my friend
So I researched for a cause and did everything I could possibly think of and the smell is still there 2 1/2 weeks later. (to this day!!)
Then I came across this forum and topic and it really sounds like the problem we are having.
1. Was or is there a recall on the Dometic 300 RV toilet and if so why was there nothing sent to those that have Forest River Travel Trailers?
2. If there isn't how do we go about getting the stinky situation fixed.
Help please.
