Drawing Fresh Water From Winterize Port?
I was wondering if it's okay to pull water from a portable jug using the winterize port on the side of the camper? We're looking to boondock in a few weeks and want to bring a few potable water jugs for extra water. I've tried it out in the yard and it seems to draw from the jug just fine. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't hurt anything. Thanks.

It will be fine, jug size will be the limiter.

It will work but I don't believe it will fill the fresh water tank, only the plumbing. Some folks however have pulled the water from the jug with the winterize valve, then use the outside shower to fill the fw tank if its close to the fw fill port.

I was thinking I'd just pull from the jugs as needed rather than try and fill the fresh water tank. I have 3 of the 7 gallon blue jugs that I'll draw from first and when they're gone switch over to my fresh water tank.

Do the same thing when we are dry camping. Use the outside shower to fill the tank to save me from needing to go out and switch containers often.

The winterizing port will likely benefit from a sanitizing process and a good flush, especially if it was used to draw antifreeze into the RV for winter storage.

I do the same thing, but have pulled from a 48 gallon water bladder in the back of the pickup... Fill the bladder after setting up camper, if I can't gravity fill tank then hookup to winterizing port and pull from bladder. Rather unhook and shut off pump when we leave with TV than pump and fool with transferring water.

I've used the winterize port to fill the water tank in my Georgetown that doesn't have an outside shower. I use a hose adapter on the bathroom sink and run my fresh water hose from it to the fill port. The pump sucks water from the 5 gal jug, the sink fills the hose which feeds the tank.
This leads to another thought - a cross connect (with valve) between the pump output and the fill line for the fresh water tank inside the plumbing compartment. This would allow refilling the fresh tank from jugs without running a hose through the rv.

I think the OP has it figured out. Use the portable jugs first and then switch over to the onboard tank.
