Dumping Black Tank at Home

That's the kind of feedback I was looking for. I, too, live in a nice development, but I think mine is a 3" opening.

My grandfather had a clean out installed about 6 ft from the road in his front yard just for that purpose, I used his for years, then had a pipe tied into my septic system so I could dump my tanks at home if I needed to.

The macerator pump inlet is set up to receive the normal dump hose. The outlet size is reduced to accept a small discharge hose. I purchased that collapsible hose at tractor supply comes in 25 foot lengths rolls up rather small for storage. Works great

We're on a septic tank system with a clean-out five feet from the house and a clear area beyond so I built a little ramp to tilt the TT toward the clean-out and that allows for a very complete dump. I always add water to the black tank to be sure we have plenty to facilitate a complete dump, and we add Calgon water softener and a little detergent to that tank when we leave our campsite and let it slosh around well on the trip home. We don't do laundry or use a lot of water in the house until the system has a chance to recover from a full dump.

Clean outs are never installed facing back towards the house. It's the plumbing code. All clean outs are to be installed facing the main sewer line. One would not want to run a snake back to the house and have it go up thru a toilet and/or vent stack. If one can actually do that, the clean out was improperly installed. So, dump away without fear of making a mess!

thats a no no, clean outs are not septic. septic goes to treatment plant clean outs. don't they back to water source.

I'm spoiled. We own a storage condo, and we have a couple of dump stations on the property.

Not sure what you mean, toslow. Clean outs, if installed according to code, always direct a snake to the street side of the sewer. I'm referring to a city sanitary sewer system. A home septic system may just have a conventional tee installed, and not a sanitary tee. If that's what you mean(?)

Due to a house fire we are "full time" camping. I set up trailer in my back yard and had to run about 30' to sewer clean out. 3" ABS for 20' and stinky slinky on each end. Bayonet fittings for 3" ABS available at most RV supply.


The worst day camping is far better than the best day working.

Sure do I had to replace sewer line in and had one put in for that purpose.

I think I'm going to hijack my own thread here, but what kind of Surveyor do you have? I've been looking at the 294QBLE and 32BHDS. Like the outdoor kitchen on the 32 but like the size and weight of the 294.

Yeah, I also want to dump at home for convenience, no public dump sites are near us.

However it is illegal in my town to use the cleanout/sewer vent for dumping. so I would have to do so at night while blocking a lane of traffic. Possible but hairy.

I have also read stories relating how the typical home soil pipe can not handle a sudden rush of water and it can back up out of the pipe or worse into the house. Part of that is because there may not be a close by vent.

When we put in our new RV pad, we had a standard dump site installed. This came with a screw cap. We also had a 50 amp plug installed. So we are able to store at home with a nice hard cover for protection.
It's worked out nicely.

I've dumped it to both, my septic system at my old house and my public sewer clean out at my present house

you should be able to see down in it and see which way the sweep is . if it's to deep to only way to tell is run a cable and see which way it goes .

I had a dump pipe added to my sewer system at home when I built my house. I honestly don't know how someone without a way to dump at home manages. I guess as long as you dump at the campsite before you leave and only use rest stops or rest rooms on the way home. But it sure is nice when you can dump at home.
