dumping tanks into a residential sewer
hey all, is it possible to dump the tanks into a residential sewer cleanout? by this i mean the big 4" screw on cap that is used to snake out the line going into a septic tank. i have to pull my 22' TT to my job to stay there for 2 weeks, and was hoping to be self contained instead of using the head and shower at the shop... they are kinda nasty!!! I have access to water and 30 amp, just nowhere to dump tanks other than this said cleanout plug.

I would think as long as the cleanout connect is lower or below the 4 inch connector on your tt it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, absolutely. I've dumped portable waste tanks into mine before, but not my TT. It will work fine.

I believe they even have an adapter at your local building supply store to screw in and hook up your line to. Make sure you keep your black tank valve closed until you need to dump it, you will thank yourself later. Make sure you have enough slope on the line..!

I do it all the time, I pull it into the yardn hook it up to the cleanout and drain it. I try to do it before I leave the campground, but it is not always possible.

I use mine to dump at home. I use a macerator pump since I can't park close to the clean out.

I use our lawn trap all the time to dump and clean out the tanks.
A warning about the "30amp at work"; make SURE it is 110 and not 220.

The only thing I would caution about is not to use holding tank chems that contain Formaldehyde. Even if you did it would probably be ok, but it stresses a septic system when you do. Especially if it's borderline sized.

It's fine to do that. I do it the whole time we are home which is for 7 months because we live out of our MH.

I use a Sanacon macerator pump that I kept home a Monaco class A coach that I used to have, it pumps it up 10 feet in elevation and I think up to 100 feet through a 3/4 inch garden hose into my 4 inch clean out in the backyard.
I always do a really good shower cleaning and flushing the tanks a day or two later after getting home using the Sanacon pump.

Like Bama Rambler said, if you have a septic tank the blue formaldehyde-based chemicals can pose a problem. Whenever I have done this, I was using the green enzyme-based chemicals, and never had a problem with the septic system. I suspect the green chemicals are actually beneficial to the septic system, much like Rid-X.
