Electric water heater not working?

Ive read through threads but im still unsure of what my problem could be with my water heater. I have a suburban SW10DE, the electric was not working when I purchased the rv. I turned on the outside switch, I have 120 going from the breaker to the external connection on the water heater. I replaced the heating element and when I test for voltage on the two wires I get nothing. But when I check for voltage on the high pressure switch I get 120v. The bottom wire on the ac side of the pressure switch was completely melted so I reconnected it with new connector and still no luck. Propane works flawlessly. Any ideas? My only guess now is that it would be the high limit switch/thermostat? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The thing you are looking at is the high/low limit thermostat.

The melted wires are problematic.
Only a direct short circuit could have caused damage like that.

The entire wire run may have to be replaced. Make sure you use the correct size (14 gauge) and temperature rated (105 degree C) wire.

I replaced the wire and put new connections on it. I was told by an rv place that the old faulty heating element couldve caused this? I have 120v to the high low limit thermostat but Im unsure why I dont have any to the heating element. Any ideas?

If the heating element shorted to the boiler when it blew, it sure could have.
Not only could it have melted the connecting wire but it could also have destroyed the high limit switch.

Check the high limit switch to make sure it did not "just pop" by (with the power off!) pressing the button at the top to make sure it is "set".

Replaced the thermostat, turns out the lower thermostat with the incoming power was melted. Replaced wires, and thermostat and now everything is working properly. Thanks for the help.
