Eliminate water filter?

My water at home is screened and then goes through a water softener.

Filtered water at the sink and the fridge. And the filters clog up fast, telling me there is unwanted stuff in my water.

Seems like a filter can hold a lot of stuff/good/bad/? I know if mine sits very long without use algae green can come out ... I always run spigot at campground and fill glass, look, and then run water thru filter and make sure it runs clean into glass...give it taste test and then hook to trailer....when filter get some age have run Clorox thru it .... wonder if should do that regular to clean the contaminates that are in the filter? or will it break down some of the components in the filter...????
